Kemmerer Library and the Harding Land Trust, will be held in September
Harding students in grades K-12, at any school, will be invited

Assessing Forest Health in NJ
Join Dr. Jay F. Kelly, Associate Professor of Biology and Environmental Science at Raritan Community College, to learn about:
- New Jersey forest health and trends
- The impact of deer and invasive plant species
- The food web for pollinators, birds, and other local wildlife provided by native trees and plants
- Why non-native plants often don’t feed wildlife
- How citizens can help ensure their community’s forest ecological health
Dr. Kelly’s fascinating presentation, based on multiple forest studies in the Raritan watershed, is oriented to home owners, municipal officials, and citizens involved with land use policy.

Calling All Kids! Camp with HLT at Primrose Farm!
The Harding Land Trust welcomes you to CAMP OUT on September 10th, 2016. We welcome all Harding children from the ages of 6 to 12 years old and a parent to camp out with us at Primrose Farm. Leave your phone, boom box, electric toothbrush and large screen TV at home. On this camp out, we will listen to the music of the insects, taste a fire pit meal and watch a cosmic light show. The camp out will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 4 p.m. to breakfast on Sunday September 11th.
Activities will include a scavenger hunt, wiffle ball, s’more roasting, flashlight tag, story time and more. Please bring a tent, sleeping bag, change of clothes, flashlight, one gallon of water per person, mud boots and insect repellent. The land trust will provide dinner, breakfast and entertainment.
The fee is $10 per child, $15 per adult. Please RSVP by September 7th to firstname.lastname@example.org. Space is limited.

opportunity to adopt up to 5 free 2-4′ high bare root tree seedlings.

Guest speaker Larry Weaner will speak about practical ways to create dynamic and stunning long-lived meadows for properties large and small, and guest speaker Chris Yates will speak about beekeeping in Harding!

Larry Weaner is Founder of Larry Weaner Landscape Associates, a consulting firm . He has been creating native landscapes since 1977. His firm has a national reputation for combining ecological restoration with the traditions of garden design. The firm’s work has received numerous awards, been featured in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Garden Design, and Landscape Architecture Magazine, among other publications, and been included on tours with The Garden Conservancy, The Cultural Landscape Foundation, and the American Horticultural Society. Larry lectures actively throughout the U.S., and in 1990, he founded New Directions in the American Landscape, a conference series with a national following.
Chris Yates is a member of the Harding Township Committee and strong supporter of open space and sustainable landscape practice. He bottles honey harvested in Harding Township under the brand The Bare Bee. Chris also offers hand-made small batch balms, lotions and creams and honey candies.
The meeting will begin at 7:00pm. Drinks and dessert will be served at 6:30pm. Non-members are welcome to attend, however, we kindly request a voluntary contribution to our stewardship fund or that you become a member. Registration is required. Dr. Van Clef is President of Ecological Solutions, a consulting business with over 40 clients. His clients include non-profit conservation groups, as well as local and federal government agencies. Dr. Van Clef is also the former Director of Science and Stewardship for the Nature Conservancy.
