The Gatehouse

This beautiful 13.7-acre property provides a welcoming vista at the entrance to Harding Township from James Street. The property was purchased by Harding Township and the Harding Land Trust in 2003, in partnership with the Morris County Open Space Preservation Trust and the State of New Jersey Green Acres program.

The Gatehouse property is a key link in the Silver Brook stream corridor that runs through Harding Township. Exceptional wetlands and woods flank the brook, providing homes for a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The protected habitats include forested and tussock sedge wetlands, wet meadow, and vernal pools. The Gatehouse has 1 mile of walking trails which connect to the Great Swamp Watershed’s Conservation Management Area.
