Frelinghuysen Marsh

Frelinghuysen Marsh contains a wet meadow and forested wetlands surrounding Silver Brook, which flows through the property. This prominent unspoiled expanse of marshland protects an aquifer which eventually discharges into the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge system.

The preservation and stewardship of Frelinghuysen Marsh protects, restores, and enhances wetlands, a stream corridor, and an important wildlife habitat.

A portion of this property is an actively managed bog turtle habitat-a water control structure was installed in 2000. Woody vegetation which grows naturally on the property is balanced by periodic mowing to sustain this palustrine wetland marsh.
