 About

In 2012, the Harding Land Trust working with Harding Township and the Trust for Public Land, preserved this 125-acre property known as Primrose Farm Estates. The property was acquired in two phases with funds from NJ Green Acres, Harding Land Trust, Harding Township, Trust for Public Land, Morris County Municipal Utilities Authority and the Morris County Open Space Trust Fund.

Primrose Farm contains wetlands, fields, streams, steep slopes, and forests. The Primrose property is an essential contributor to the watershed adjacent to both Primrose Brook and the Passaic River. Its conservation is fundamental to local water quality, and the ability to recharge groundwater supplies in Harding Township and other areas. Indeed, the conservation of the Primrose property protects drinking water for communities downstream, and preserves vital wildlife habitats for endangered species like the Indiana bat, on site and in the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.

The preservation of this publicly accessible land will allow for the expansion of existing trails, creating improved access to hiking, horseback riding, bird watching, cross-country skiing, and other year-round recreational activities. This property will also provide interesting and educational environmental stewardship activities for the community.

Trails are open and accessible sunrise to sundown unless otherwise noted.
